Unerground Railroad Block of the Month Club

Underground Railroad Block of the Month Club - Starting August 8th

The Underground Railroad, a vast network of people who helped fugitive slaves escape to the North and to Canada; it effectively moved hundreds of slaves -- according to one estimate, the South lost 100,000 slaves between 1810 and 1850.

Ladies of Liberty Mercantile is starting a new block of the month club using the Underground Railroad as the theme.

Onnie has put together a set of 12 blocks that come from the Underground Railroad for us to make. They are a 12” x 12” block. Each month you will receive a block pattern with a brief history of that pattern and one focus fabric. You will need to pick out and purchase the rest of the fabric to finish your quilt block.

The way this club will work is that you will pick up one block pattern with its focus fabric each month for $1.00 and take it home to make it; bring it back the next month and get the next block for $1.00 while leaving the finished block to hang in the shop for that month. The next month you will get your first block back and a new block for $1.00 while leaving the current block for the month; so on and so on! We want to see what everyone did with their blocks!

We will not be meeting all together with this BOM – so you will have all day to stop by and pick up your block on the second Saturday of each month starting August 8th. Call the shop to sign up at 502-837-0676.
