Home of the Brave project

We made two quilts for the Home of the Brave project recently. This is a great project, check out their website at: www.oregonhomeofthebrave.org

Thanks to all the ladies (and men) who made a block for these special quilts. And a HUGE thank you to Heidi of Piece & Joy Quilting for donating her time to quilt these. Check out her website at: http://pieceandjoyquiltingco.com/home.html

It was a great honor to make these quilts
for a solider who gave his all for our country.

Once again I fall behind in Blog land!

I was telling you about our new sewing/classroom! Well, it is done and we have been using it for applique club, $5.00 block-of-the-month club, Prairie Women Sewing Circle club, classes and much more! Our Morning applique club (first and third Wednesday of each month) meets at 8:30 am to do hand sewing, come join us!

What a difference paint makes! (and of course quilts on the wall too!)

Second 'Civil War Ladies' question today! Are you ready?

Who was the first woman awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for her work as a surgeon during the Civil War?

If you know the answer, email it to me at: ladiesofliberty@hotmail.com and if you have the correct answer your name will go into a drawing for a fat quarter bundle on Friday.
Don't forget we start our $2.00 block of the month in August with our 'Civil War Ladies' theme. Sign up now!
The answer to our first 'Ladies of the Civil War' trivia question was Clara Barton!
Clara quickly realized the need to get supplies to wounded soldiers on the battlefield and established a system of helping to meet this need. She quickly became one of the highly-regarded nurses of the Civil War and was appropriately named “The Angel of the Battlefield” for helping thousands of wounded men over the course of the war.
Congratulations to the winner of this question, Deb R., thanks for entering our contest! We have a nice Civil War fabric fat quarter bundle for you.
