Ladies of the Civil War Block of the Month

Our new block of the month "Ladies of the Civil War' will start in August! This is our $2.00 block, you get a pattern, 9" X 11" piece of fabric and a history of a Civil War lady. You add your own fabric to make the block.
We will kick this off with a trivia contest on Facebook. I will post a question about a Civil War... lady each week (on Monday) and if you know the answer - email me with that answer. All correct answers will go in a drawing and at the end of each week I'll pick a winner from them. Winners will receive a fat quarter bundle of Civil War Fabrics!
We will start this game on Monday (tomorrow) and run it through Monday, August 6th.
The first 'Ladies of the Civil War' blocks will be ready for pick up on Saturday, August 11th. Come join the fun!

Quilts and Big Guns!

Wow, time has sure flown! Can't believe how long ago I wrote on the blog!!

The shop is keeping me busy as well as family life. My father-in-law passed away last month and we had a new grandson - the circle of life just keeps going on.

Now it is reenacting time again! I took the picture above at our first event. I couldn't help draping a great Soldier's Quilt (one I made for my husband) over one of the cannons on the battlefield! Thanks to Pelham's/McGegor's Battery for letting us use their cannons and to Katie & Kelly for making it happen! This is a great pattern we carry in the shop (Darcy's Ribbons by Reproductions Quilts). This would be a great quilt to make as a commemorative quilt for the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Stop by and I'll help you pick out fabric to make your very own soldier's quilt.

Prairie Women Club

Prairie Women Club

Saturday, February 11 - 1 pm (this class is full)
Monday February 20 - 10:30 am
Saturday February 25 - 10:30 am

You are invited to join a unique monthly club that will take you on a journey back in time. Gather together as the "Prairie Women" did, and hear anecdotal stories about their quilt making, and what daily life was like for those who traveled by wagon train on the Oregon Trail, to the lives of quilter's during the Civil War, and the years of women's suffrage for equal rights. Not only will you learn how our quilting ancestors created quilts by "Making-Do" with what they had, you will be invited to do so yourself!!!

We have held our first two journeys and what fun we have had! This a great time to sew and visit with others who love history and quilting! Want to join us? We still have room in our Monday and last Saturday of month classes! Pre-sign up is required - $40.00 for 6 months. Call (503-837-0676) or email (ladiesofliberty@hotmail.com) the shop and sign up today!
